There are several diets available to help you lose weight quickly. Two of the most popular diets are the Keto diet and the Atkins diet. Both diets have a primary focus of consuming low carbs in order to trigger fat burning and weight loss.
Both diets have been proven to help people achieve their weight and fat loss goals. Kim Kardashian famously lost weight from her pregnancy by following the Atkins diet.
At both of the diet’s core, they focus on consuming a nutritional diet that will force a person’s body to be in a calorie deficit.
The choice to go with a keto or Atkins diet is preference, and how much it compliments your lifestyle.

What are some of the differences between the keto and Atkins diets?
Keto diet
The keto diet is more of a lifestyle diet. So you would split your macronutrients to compliment your daily consumption and you can have this from day 1.
You don’t need to focus on making major changes once every few weeks. Once you adopt the lifestyle and it suits your needs, you just need to continue doing it, and making sure that it will help you achieve your goals.
Atkins diet
The Atkins diet is more of a systemic program that will help you achieve your fat and weight loss goals over a certain period of time.
The diet restricts the consumption of carbohydrate calories to an extreme level (20g per day), which will force the body to consume body fat as a fuel/energy source.
This allows the body to lose fat and weight quickly.
Because of the low-calorie consumption, the body is likely to go into a state of ketosis, which speeds up the fat-loss process.
The diet isn’t sustainable for a long-term lifestyle. But it is good for achieving short-to medium-term goals.
Should you choose to do the Atkins diet, it is essential that you have a transition plan for beyond the term of the Atkins diet.
What results can you expect to see with both diets?
The first thing is you will see a rapid loss in water weight. It is possible that the body will shed up to 5kg within the first 3 weeks as it adjusts to the dietary changes.
Secondly, as long as you maintain a calorie deficit, you would see consistent weight changes. For example, a deficit of 500 calories a day should see you lose 500g a week. And 1000 calories a day should see you lose 1kg a week.
With this information, you can start to forecast how much weight you will lose over a certain amount of time. So if you want to lose 12kg, you will need to maintain a calorie deficit of 1000 calories a day for 12 weeks.
Is one diet easier to follow than the other?
It really depends on the lifestyle that you can manage. The way to succeed with both diets is in the preparation for what you will consume.
Kim Kardashian had her cooks prepare her meals. So all she had to do was focus on eating what her cooks prepared for her.
For people that don’t have the income to hire cooks, you will need to buy the ingredients to allow you to reduce your carbohydrate intake and then cook recipes that will allow you to consume the macronutrients for each diet.
If you do have the income, purchasing ready-made meals is another option as well.
